The Top Habits of High-Performing Forepersons

March 26 @ 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
$1099

Presented by Dr. Awad S. Hanna, Ph.D., P.E. NAC – Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison & President of Hanna Consulting Group

Foremen are the drivers of project success. An effective, high-performing foreman is a company’s most valuable asset, with their leadership and ability to manage cost, schedule, safety, and quality setting the tone for project success. High-performing foremen stand out because of key traits that distinguish them from average performers. This course offers an in-depth look at the top habits of the most effective forepersons, led by Dr. Awad Hanna.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand crew behaviour and communicate the rules of the game using the 10-80-10 Rule
    • Control the daily 160 minutes of waste (sources and solutions) and optimize TIME (Tools, Information, Materials, Environment)
  • Participate effectively in turnover meetings, including what foremen need from estimators and manpower loading curve development
  • Prepare and manage two-week look-ahead schedules, including key elements, standard forms, and Percent Promise Complete (PPC) measurement
  • Keep accurate daily logs and tracking records for base contract work, goals, variations, and additional work
  • Conduct daily huddles with clear task setup (Who, What, Where, When, How), using pre-task planning sheets and goal-setting
  • Implement effective materials handling using the Golden Triangle, Four Crew Concept, and materials management plans
  • Set short-term, achievable production goals using the 30-30 Rule, 10-10 Rule, and earned value tracking
  • Manage change orders and time & material tickets using standard T&M ticket forms
