Generative AI Tools for Electrical Tradespersons (Virtual Workshop)

Generative AI is rapidly changing how construction work is planned, coordinated, and documented, and this full-day virtual workshop is designed for ECAO members to help them understand and use these tools. You’ll work with tools like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini on everyday electrical contracting tasks—using them to help with project documents, drawings, quantity take-offs, estimates, RFQs/RFPs, RFIs, site instructions, deficiency lists, change orders, and daily logs—so you can see exactly how they fit into the work you already do.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand core Generative AI concepts in plain language and how they fit into electrical construction workflows.
- Use AI tools (ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini) to support planning, documentation, and communication tasks for electrical projects.
- Apply AI to construction and project documentation, drawings, and specifications for summarizing, clarifying, and drafting content.
- Generate structured support for Quantity Take-Offs (QTOs) and estimating while maintaining proper professional review and judgment.
- Draft and refine RFQs/RFPs, bid documents, and responses that are clearer, more consistent, and faster to produce.
- Create and improve RFIs, site instructions, deficiency lists, and change order language using AI as a writing and checking assistant.
- Structure daily logs, progress updates, and reporting with AI support to improve consistency and completeness.
- Use a Custom GPT tailored for ECAO members, leveraging prompt starters aligned with common electrical workflows.
