For construction projects to get off on the right track, it is important for project participants to select the right project delivery system. This full-day seminar evaluates the full spectrum of construction delivery methods—from traditional design-bid-build to the emerging Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) system—and demonstrates how electrical contractors are adapting their business models to thrive in this collaborative environment.

Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is an emerging construction project delivery system that collaboratively involves key participants, including electrical contractors, very early in the project timeline—often before design begins. It is distinguished by multiparty contractual agreements that share risks and rewards among stakeholders. This seminar fills that critical knowledge gap by comparing IPD project performance against traditional design-bid-build, design-build, and construction management at-risk systems, while highlighting the strategic shifts electrical contractors must make to succeed.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the key differences between design-bid-build, design-build, construction management, and integrated project delivery systems
  • Recognize how Lean principles transform project delivery and team collaboration
  • Apply the five Big Ideas of Integrated Lean Delivery: collaborate, increase relatedness, view projects as networks of commitment, optimize the whole project, and tightly couple action with learning
  • Compare performance metrics and outcomes across different delivery systems
  • Identify the new operational and contractual requirements for electrical contractors in IPD environments
  • Implement Lean tools such as Last Planner and Just-in-Time Design (JID)
  • Develop strategies to evolve your company’s business model for IPD success
