PROMEX: Project Management Skill for Construction Excellence

Construction  Industry- Specific Training

Designed specifically Industry for the construction industry, this program equips participants with essential project management skills, hands-on training for the PMP exam, and formal certification Project Planning and Control Module Create trade-specific construction schedules, define critical paths, and build job-ready work breakdown structures to keep crews aligned and projects on track. through the Project Management Institute (PMI). Employers will receive a $2,500 reimbursement for each successful participant.

The program is open to ECAO member contractors. While there are no formal prerequisites, applicants must be recommended by their supervisor or employer and should have prior construction industry experience to fully benefit from the content.

Project Management Skills for Construction Excellence program is designed to upskill Ontario’s construction workforce – specifically those from mechanical, electrical, and civil contracting backgrounds – with practical project management and digital skills.

Module

Who is Eligible to Apply?

  • Currently employed or recently employed in Ontario’s construction sector (especially in mechanical, electrical, or civil trades)
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in the construction industry
  • Interest in advancing to project management roles
  • Sufficient English language proficiency, as all sessions and materials will be delivered in English
  • Able to commit to approximately 3 months of part-time virtual training
  • Access to a computer and reliable internet connection for online sessions
  • Resident of Ontario and legally eligible to work in Canada

Preference May Be Given To:

  1. Individuals seeking to obtain a PMP certification or grow into leadership roles
  2. Workers from underrepresented groups in the construction industry (e.g., newcomers, women, Indigenous peoples, racialized groups)  
  3. Unionized tradespeople working for or endorsed by contractors belonging to ECAO, MCAO or CLRAO

Additional Notes:

  • This is not an entry-level program. Applicants should have some experience working in construction and be familiar with how construction projects typically run on-site
  • Training is delivered online, and participants must attend live virtual classes
  • Participants need to complete all pre-work, assessments, participant directory and Ontario Government information
  • Participants to actively participate with camera-on during in-class discussions and breakout sessions with fellow participants and faculty
  • All participants who successfully complete the program will receive credentials from Schulich ExecEd and ECAO
