CECA BIM Training & Implementation Seminar/Webinar - March 7, 2012
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the process of generating and managing building data over the entire lifecycle of a building. It is becoming a widely used tool in the construction industry.
As the use of Design-Build project delivery methods continues to increase, it is critical that electrical contractors become fluent with BIM technology and software.
The delivery of a four-module BIM training and implementation course will include the following topics:
· familiarization with the various software platforms and their pitfalls
· criteria for choosing and implementing BIM solutions
· determining the appropriate level of representation in a BIM model needed for design, estimation, coordination, scheduling and fabrication
· awareness of contractual implications of using a shared BIM model
· how BIM can facilitate sustainable practices and how BIM can provide opportunities for new services
· strategies for developing and implementing BIM in a company
