David Sylvester - Morrison Hershfield Limited
David Sylvester is a Senior Life Safety Systems Specialist at Morrison Hershfield Limited in Toronto. David has over 20 years of engineering experience, within fire protection and life safety systems and with related services, as a designer, building systems manager and consultant. He is an accredited Master Electrician/Electronic Technician with experience in electrical/fire alarm instruction/training.
David is currently 1st Vice President of the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA), Chair of the CFAA Education Committee and Chair of the ULC Data Integrity Working Group. In addition, he also provides instruction for Seneca College’s Fire Protection Engineering Program and George Brown College’s Electrical Pre-exam training programs. He has recently been published and has written two electrical trade training text books detailing Industrial Electrical qualification requirements.
Intimate knowledge of life safety standards and their application, will limit resource expenditures, while maximizing the protection of society from the ravages of fire.
Increasingly, standards are being produced in domain specific areas (e.g., Life Safety Systems, Information Security, Telecommunications) Value engineering enjoys widespread use throughout the private sector. The many millions of dollars saved over the years is a tribute to the effectiveness of applying value engineering methodology to life safety projects.
Dave Sylvester’s presentation will explore the issues and engage participants in meaningful dialogue on IPR management and its relationship to standards knowledge impact on value engineering and training fire alarm industry stakeholders.
